El nuevo hit de Childish Gambino, «This is America», debuta esta semana en el número 1 del Billboard Hot 100. (En los 60 años de la Era del Hot 100 solo 31 canciones han ingresado directamente al primer lugar.)
Este es el primer hit que alcanza la cima para el alter ego del actor de la serie FX, Donald Glover.
«This is America» destrona a Drake y su «Nice for what», que gobernó el Hot 100 durante cuatro semanas.
Donald o Childish, como prefieran llamarlo, es el primer actor ganador del Emmy desde Justin Timberlake en el 2016, que llega al primer lugar en E.U.
Glover ganó dos Emmys en el 2017 por la serie de comedia, «Atlanta», la cual él mismo creó. (Timberlake lo hizo por Saturday Night Live.)
«This is America» es la primera canción en toda la historia que llega al primer lugar en cuyo título lleva la palabra «America». En los 70, tres éxitos número 1 llevaron en su título la palabra “American”:
